 Community Development
On 1 July 2007 the Department for Communities and Department for Child Protection became operational.
The Department for Communities provides a range of services which include support to children, young people, men, women, seniors and families, assisting community members in crisis, protecting children and young people from harm, and caring for children and young people who are unable to live at home.
Building on the strong relationships, support networks and working partnerships with non-government organisations is a priority of the Department as a strong social safety net will ensure all West Australians can benefit from the booming economy.
The Department will be a focal point for initiatives and policies across Government that build and support strong, sustainable communities.
